A note from our Elementary and Middle School Librarian:
"Hello! In conjunction with the Fall Scholastic Book Fair, I am raising funds for ClassroomsCount, a Scholastic-sponsored program. During this campaign, my goal is to get more books in our students’ hands by expanding classroom libraries. One of the biggest joys of teaching is seeing a student fall in love with a book, but it's not always easy for teachers to keep their classroom libraries filled with current book titles. Your support will help raise funds to fill elementary classroom libraries with new books. Growing lifelong readers is an important goal for all schools—and your contribution will help the School District of Random Lake do just that! Thank you for your support!"

Youth Apprenticeship Highlight:
Opportunities for EVERY student in ALL interests, while finding ways to show students that education can be enjoyable are the main priorities within our Academic and Career Planning at the School District of Random Lake. This week’s YA Highlight is a true example of two students from very different areas of interests finding their niche within our YA programming, and enjoying learning!
This week, we would like to highlight Sarah Mitchell and Vann Justman for the hard work they are putting in not only in the classroom, but also within their Youth Apprenticeship and Extracurricular Activities.
Sarah, a junior, expressed a career aspiration within Agriculture (specifically with animals) during her freshman SCoPE Meeting with Mr. Frias. With her 'north star' set, and core 9th/10th grade courses completed, she has been set up with her required courses junior year, along with AP + CAPP courses, and an Animal Science course. After a morning of balancing her classes, she heads to her youth apprenticeship at Heaven's Gait Ranch, a non-profit organization that provides equine assisted services. There, she tends to the horses, and assists with the daily duties of the business. Sarah is also involved with the Random Lake FFA chapter, 4-H, and the RLHS band.
Vann, a senior, is a fine example of a "blue collar", hard working student-athlete. A career within the trades has been his goal since freshman year. With that in mind, Vann's first three years consisted of all core classes, and tech ed electives in an effort to open up his schedule senior year. As a senior, Vann now takes one core class, and a few tech ed courses in the morning followed by an afternoon at Kiefer Industries where his apprenticeship is located. There, he specializes in Manufacturing Processes. Vann is also a part of the RLO Football team, and also competed on the RLHS wrestling team for two years.
Two examples of students finding a passion through Academic and Career Planning, enjoying education within their field, making memories in extracurricular activities, and getting an #RLAdvantage before they graduate high school due to their hard work and dedication.
Keep up the great work!

Congrats to Random Lake alumni Nick Klein as he earned a UFC contract this past week following a 36 second win over a BJJ Black Belt on “Dana White’s Contender Series”. It should be noted, he took this opportunity on 8 days notice!
Nick is a blue collar, father of three that started wrestling his junior year at RLHS. His drive and determination was shown early in his combat career as he was a state runner up as a senior, just his second year of high school wrestling.
Keep up the great work Nick!

Youth Apprenticeship Highlight:
Opportunities for EVERY student in ALL interests, while finding ways to show students that education can be enjoyable are the main priorities within our Academic and Career Planning at the School District of Random Lake. This week’s YA Highlight is a true example of kids from varying interests truly optimizing our programming and partnerships at the high school level.
This week, we would like to highlight Karley Birenbaum and Bradley Hartmann for the hard work they are putting in not only in the classroom, but also within their Youth Apprenticeship and Extracurricular Activities.
Karley, a junior, expressed her ambition to become a Dental Hygienist during her freshman SCoPE Meeting with Mr. Frias. With the big picture in mind, she was driven to accomplish all of her 9th, 10th and some 11th grade courses in her first two years. With the foundation being built, she now attends classes (one of which is a college course) at RLHS in the morning, and then punches in at Random Lake Dentistry in the afternoon for her YA. Karley also has a lot of involvement in extracurricular activities on-campus being a member of the track team, a manager for the wrestling team, playing in the band, and major roles in our yearly musicals.
Bradley, a senior, has a passion for hard work and tech Ed. By May, he will have taken 13 tech Ed courses. As a way to advance his love for manual labor and working within the trades, Bradley will also be taking Welding courses second semester through our Start College Now program at Lakeshore Technical College. As another ‘split-shifter’, Bradley has earned the opportunity to come to RLHS during the morning for a couple of core classes, and then punch in for his YA at Torque Monsters in Random Lake. At his YA he gets to take apart old car engines, and help the business sell the good parts to machine shops, performance shops, and other retail businesses.
Two examples of students finding a passion through Academic and Career Planning, enjoying education within their field, making memories in extracurricular activities, and getting an #RLAdvantage before they graduate high school due to their hard work and dedication.
Keep up the great work!

Youth Apprenticeship Highlight:
This time of year, you can see one of them under the ‘Friday Night Lights’, while the other enjoys ‘Kick(ing) the Dust Up’ within the agriculture realm.
This week, we would like to highlight Seth Smallish and Kylee Brooks for the hard work they are putting in, not only in the classroom, but also within their Youth Apprenticeship and Extracurricular Activities.
Seth, a junior, found his passion for construction by taking a plethora of the tech Ed classes we offer at RLHS during his first two years as a student. He balances his core classes for the first half of the day, and then clocks in for his apprenticeship with Miron Construction at lunch. Cool Fact: he gets to work on the school renovations “hands on” as a part of his Construction YA. Seth also plays football for the RLO Football Team, and is a starter for the RLHS Wrestling Team.
Kylee, a senior, has committed to LTC and is on track to earn 26 colleges credits (before graduation) towards an AgriBusiness degree. She has balanced her high school core classes with college courses through our Start College Now and Dual Credit programs since 10th grade. After her morning in the classroom, Kylee punches in for her youth apprenticeship at Eisntraut Ag Services. Kylee is also the president of our FFA chapter at RLHS.
Two examples of students finding a passion through Academic and Career Planning, enjoying education within their field, making memories in extracurricular activities, and getting an #RLAdvantage before they graduate high school due to their hard work and dedication.
Keep up the great work!
