Youth Apprenticeship Highlight:
This time of year, you can see one of them under the ‘Friday Night Lights’, while the other enjoys ‘Kick(ing) the Dust Up’ within the agriculture realm.
This week, we would like to highlight Seth Smallish and Kylee Brooks for the hard work they are putting in, not only in the classroom, but also within their Youth Apprenticeship and Extracurricular Activities.
Seth, a junior, found his passion for construction by taking a plethora of the tech Ed classes we offer at RLHS during his first two years as a student. He balances his core classes for the first half of the day, and then clocks in for his apprenticeship with Miron Construction at lunch. Cool Fact: he gets to work on the school renovations “hands on” as a part of his Construction YA. Seth also plays football for the RLO Football Team, and is a starter for the RLHS Wrestling Team.
Kylee, a senior, has committed to LTC and is on track to earn 26 colleges credits (before graduation) towards an AgriBusiness degree. She has balanced her high school core classes with college courses through our Start College Now and Dual Credit programs since 10th grade. After her morning in the classroom, Kylee punches in for her youth apprenticeship at Eisntraut Ag Services. Kylee is also the president of our FFA chapter at RLHS.
Two examples of students finding a passion through Academic and Career Planning, enjoying education within their field, making memories in extracurricular activities, and getting an #RLAdvantage before they graduate high school due to their hard work and dedication.

Curriculum Highlights: Random Lake High School was recently nominated for the NEW Manufacturing Alliance's 13th annual "Excellence in Manufacturing/K-12 Partnerships Awards" for having showcased the importance of helping students understand the great careers available in manufacturing. “Senior Trifecta Spotlight”
While the high school is embracing a record number of youth apprenticeships and students taking college courses through our Start College Now program this year, we would like to recognize seniors Cole Keller and Dylan Brody for their drive and determination as we approach the end of Sept.
Not only are both young men completing required high school courses, but they are also on pace to conquer 6 welding classes (plus a certification) by the end of the school year through LTC, as well as, 400+ hours of a Youth Apprenticeship. To top things off, both are also starters on the RLO Football Team and RLHS Wrestling Team (1 of them also runs track).

We're looking for donations of Lego Bricks and kits for our RLSD Lego, Engineering, and STEM classes. We are also taking donations of scrap wood for our basic Woodworking class. Student Spotlight: We are thrilled to announce that Sutton Wilterdink has been named a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist! This prestigious recognition placed Sutton among the most academically talented students in the nation, and we couldn't be more proud of his incredible achievement. The finalists will be announced in February, with winners revealed later in the spring and summer. Let's all wish Sutton the best of luck as he continues this impressive journey!
