Youth Apprenticeship Highlight: Opportunities for EVERY student in ALL interests, while finding ways to show students that education can be enjoyable are the main priorities within our Academic and Career Planning at the School District of Random Lake. This week’s YA Highlight is a true example of two students from very different areas of interests finding their niche within our YA programming, and enjoying learning! This week, we would like to highlight Ethan Keller and Krystiana Vanden Heuvel for the hard work they are putting in not only in the classroom, but also within their Youth Apprenticeship and Extracurricular Activities. Ethan, a senior, expressed a career aspiration within the trades during his sophomore SCoPE Meeting with Mr. Frias. With his goal set, Ethan balanced his core classes with as many tech Ed classes as possible within his first three years at RLHS. Due to his hard work and determination, he is now able to attend RLHS for his few remaining core classes, followed by his apprenticeship at AGI Fabricators for most of the day. Ethan will also graduate with 6 college credits through our dual-credit partnership at LTC. When not in the classroom, Ethan can be seen under the 'Friday Night Lights' playing for the RLO Football team in the fall. Krystiana, a senior, has a passion for music and education. With the goal of one day becoming a teacher/band instructor, Krystiana has dove into our Education YA program through the School District of Random Lake. During the day, she spends time with our 'young rams', and assists some of our teachers at the elementary level. One-on-one work, small group connections, and assisting on the playground are just a few of the things Krystiana does on a daily basis. From an extracurricular standpoint, Krystiana is involved with the musicals/plays, band, and FBLA. Two examples of students finding a passion through Academic and Career Planning, enjoying education within their field, making memories in extracurricular activities, and getting an #RLAdvantage before they graduate high school due to their hard work and dedication. Keep up the great work! #StrongCommunityConnections #IndividualizedAcademics #YouthApprenticeship

Mrs. Weeks' American Wilderness Science classes had a wonderful day at The Highlands Hunt Club in Cascade, WI. After getting certified in WIDNR hunter safety, students spent the day shooting trap, with some also having the opportunity to harvest pheasants. Students learned where food comes from, how hunting aids in funding conservation efforts, and how to properly use firearms as a tool for harvest. A special THANK YOU to Safari Club International - Wisconsin Chapter for sponsoring this event each year and providing students with an opportunity they may not have had otherwise!

Alumni Youth Apprenticeship Highlight Youth Apprenticeship success is exemplified by Gavin Jacque, Class of 2023. Gavin’s passion for welding led him to participate in our YA program during his senior year, where he took his skills to Cost of Wisconsin Inc. and excelled. Throughout high school, he also earned 12 college credits in welding at Lakeshore Technical College through our Start College Now program. Gavin now works at Synergy Manufacturing Services in Grafton, specializing in welding and metal fabrication. Keep up the great work, Gavin! #RLAdvantage #YouthApprenticeship #AcademicCareerPlanning

Youth Apprenticeship Highlight The weather may be shifting, but our youth apprentices keep grinding away and finding enjoyment out of their hands-on educational experiences. This week, we would like to highlight McKenzie Machin and Daniel Becker for the hard work they are putting in not only in the classroom, but also within their Youth Apprenticeship and Extracurricular Activities. McKenzie, a senior, has a career ambition to work as a Child Psychiatrist. Her passion for working with youth, and their behavior patterns has motivated her to dive into an Education YA here at Random Lake. During the day McKenzie spends a few periods a day working with our elementary students at the School District of Random Lake, and interacts with them in the classroom, on the playground, and in one-on-one settings. She is one of three Education YA's at Random Lake HS. When she is not interacting with our 'young rams', McKenzie is taking a rigorous course load at the high school that includes AP, CAPP and Start College Now courses. In her free time, she runs track, volunteers locally at the Historical Society, and plays in the high school band. Creditwise, McKenzie will graduate with just under 20 college credits in May. Daniel, a senior, enters his 2nd year as a youth apprentice at Oldenburg Metal Tech. At Oldenburg, Daniel works within the tool and die department, as well as some heavy equipment operating. A day in the life of Daniel starts and ends on the family farm, while balancing his school work and youth apprenticeship hours between sunrise and sunset. As a result of his hard work, he has earned an opportunity for a full-time job after high school. Mastering every tech Ed course we offer at RLHS, Daniel is now looked at as a leader within our Industrial Enterprise (Project Grill) course. Although soft-spoken, Daniel's leadership skills are showcased daily in everything that he does. Two examples of students finding a passion through Academic and Career Planning, enjoying education within their field, making memories in extracurricular activities, and getting an #RLAdvantage before they graduate high school due to their hard work and dedication. Keep up the great work!

The Sheboygan County Food Bank is asking for YOUR help. Inflation is making it increasingly difficult for Sheboygan County families to put food on the table. Our latest data shows an average of nearly 6,000 family visits each month to our emergency food network, which includes: -Onsite drive-thru distribution/Sheboygan Cares Food Pantry -36 partner organizations -Community Cafe This is nearly on par with the pandemic peak in 2020. The number of meals served at our Community Cafe, which operates six days a week, has also risen sharply compared to 2023. In one month this summer, we provided an all-time high of 2,300 meals, largely due to increased visits from families with children out of school. How You Can Help: We rely heavily on donations and support from the community. With our largest annual food drive, Making Spirits Bright, coming up, we’re encouraging community members, businesses, and organizations to contribute in the following ways: Call or email Todd to set up a food drive! todd@sheboygancountyfoodbank.com Host a food drive https://sheboygancountyfoodbank.com/ways-to-give/host-food-drive/ Make walk-in donations of non-perishable and perishable food at our warehouse: 3115 N. 21st St., Sheboygan Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 3 PM 501(c)3 donation receipts are available Our most needed items right now include: Cereal/oatmeal Peanut butter Canned chicken/tuna Thank you for your support in helping feed our neighbors in need

Attention Parents! Because of a generous donor, your child has the opportunity to participate in a FREE health screening program offered by the Random Lake School District on the afternoon of November 11th in collaboration with Med Compass to screen for prolonged QT syndrome using an Electrocardiogram (EKG) at a location TBD. Prolonged QT syndrome is a heart rhythm condition that can cause fast, chaotic heartbeats and, in some cases, may lead to sudden cardiac events. If you are interested, please fill out the form below and bring it to your appointment. https://forms.gle/S324DENxS5RmmVUq9

As we are all aware, this past month has brought quite a bit of tragedy to the southeastern part of our country. A recent statistic showed the damage total from both hurricanes surpassed $50 billion dollars for each hurricane. With many families displaced, and relief funds slowly being allocated, we would like to do our part as a small community to help with the disaster relief. That said, the high school will be starting a "Penny War" between each class on 10/28, which will run through 11/14. On 11/14 during RAM Way, we will announce the winning class. Here are the finer details: PENNY WAR for DISASTER RELIEF $1,000 is our school goal (~$250 per class) Class with the most points wins a class pizza party at a later date Pennies count as points; silver coins and dollars count as negative points, and can be put in opposing classes buckets to bring their point total down There will be 4 'Culligan Buckets' in the Counseling office labeled for each grade level where you can place your pennies/change INCENTIVES During RAM Way on 11/14, we will spend the first half announcing the winning class and the final dollar amount, as well as, some class vs. class team games IF we meet $1,000 as a school, the second half of RAM Way will result in 'free time' either in the gym or courtyard If you would like to donate to our cause online, please Click Here for the donation link. We truly appreciate your support in this cause. Please reach out to Mr. Frias or Mrs. Anderson if you have any questions!

A note from our Elementary and Middle School Librarian: "Hello! In conjunction with the Fall Scholastic Book Fair, I am raising funds for ClassroomsCount, a Scholastic-sponsored program. During this campaign, my goal is to get more books in our students’ hands by expanding classroom libraries. One of the biggest joys of teaching is seeing a student fall in love with a book, but it's not always easy for teachers to keep their classroom libraries filled with current book titles. Your support will help raise funds to fill elementary classroom libraries with new books. Growing lifelong readers is an important goal for all schools—and your contribution will help the School District of Random Lake do just that! Thank you for your support!"
