Our middle school students recently took part in a trust-building and teamwork activity during an assembly.

Through hands-on exercises, students practiced communication, cooperation, and supporting one another—skills that are just as important outside the classroom as they are inside it.

Thanks to our staff for organizing a meaningful experience and to our students for jumping in and working together. Moments like these help strengthen our school community.

This past week, Mr. Epping’s Economics class got a real-world look at running a business. Landon Walters, husband of our high school Social Studies teacher Mrs. Walters, stopped in to talk with students about his experience as a business owner.

Mr. Walters, a graduate of the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, owns and manages The Shipyard Bar in Port Washington. He shared what goes into owning a business, including planning ahead, making long-term decisions, and how the local community plays a big role in pricing and overall business choices.

We appreciate community members like Mr. Walters who are willing to share their time and experiences with our students and help connect classroom learning to real life. Thanks for a great visit!

What a holly-jolly assembly!

During our last week of school before Holiday Break our 3rd–12th grade students were surprised by some special visitors… the Grinch tried to steal Christmas, but Santa saved the day!

Check out the video to see how the holiday spirit won at the School District of Random Lake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1KSNOB_lsg

American Wilderness Science recently held their 5th annual hunt at The Highlands in Cascade, and it was a great experience for everyone involved.

Students spent the morning learning to shoot clays, and after lunch had the opportunity to harvest pheasants. As part of this class, every student completes hunter safety and is fully certified before taking part in this trip.

This experience was made possible thanks to the Wisconsin Chapter of Safari Club International and the Random Lake Rod and Gun Club.

We’re also grateful for the many adult and student volunteers who helped make the day a success. A special shoutout to high school senior Anabelle B., who had the opportunity to serve as a guide this year with her dog, Tater, working one of the fields.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this memorable day happen!

Students gain hands-on experience while exploring careers in law enforcement, fire services, and EMS. The course covers topics such as criminal justice fundamentals, crime scene investigation, first aid and CPR, report writing, ethics, and defensive tactics—helping prepare students for college pathways or direct-entry career training and certifications.

Beyond technical skills, the class emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and leadership through real-world simulations, meaningful discussions, and community involvement.

We had a truly special Chamber Singers performance this past Sunday, and we’re excited to share a glimpse of it with you!

A huge thank you to the Random Lake Historical Society and Wade House for hosting our Chamber Singers, and an even bigger thank you to the alumni who took time out of their busy Sundays to come sing with us for our second set. Seeing so many familiar faces and voices together again was incredibly meaningful, and we hope this becomes a tradition for many years to come.

As we wrap up the season, we still have a few opportunities to share some holiday cheer—come hear our students sing!

We were excited to welcome Bruce Birenbaum, Senior Purchasing Agent and Plant Manager at Cedar Valley Cheese Store, as a guest speaker for our high school students!

Bruce shared his inspiring journey and reminded students that "not all paths in life are linear." His message encouraged confidence, resilience, and self-discovery. Some standout quotes from his talk included:
✨ “If you want to do something, you can do it.”
✨ “You can't let these four years define who you are going to be for the rest of your life; whether you perceive yourself as smart — or whether you have no idea what to do with the rest of your life — you will grow into YOU.”
✨ “Figure out what you are good at and do it well!”

Thank you, Bruce, for inspiring our students and sharing your wisdom!

The Random Lake High School National Honor Society is proud to share that we raised $500 to shop for Christmas gifts for local families this season!

We partnered with the Random Lake Ecumenical Drive to help fulfill Christmas wish lists — and thanks to our community’s generosity, we were able to purchase many much-needed items, including shoes (a popular request!) and plenty of fun toys for kids.

Funds were raised through halftime donations at basketball games and by selling Halloween and St. Nick treat bags. Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts and helped spread joy this holiday season! 🎄🎁

The other week during Ram Way, our high school students came together for an exciting culture-building activity planned and organized by the junior boys of our Student Leadership Committee!

Each class formed a team and worked together to transport a weighted ball from “island” to “island” on scooters—without touching the floor! Teams could only use a small jump rope and a rag to help their teammates, making strategy and teamwork key.

A huge congratulations to our sophomore class team for taking the win!

Team members:
Dean O’Harrow
Jeffrey Stefanich
Bredon Danielczak
Parker Fischer
Abby Deppies
Hannah Learned
Daigan Stern
Emily O’Keefe

Great job to all students for showing creativity, teamwork, and school spirit!

Inclement Weather Days:
As the weather turns colder, here is a reminder of our snow day/virtual day procedures.

The first snow day of the school year will remain a traditional snow day with no school. Every student deserves the joy of an unexpected winter day off! This first snow day is built into our school district calendar and does not need to be made up.

After that, the next two snow days will be Virtual Learning Days. On Virtual Learning Days, our school buildings will be closed, and students will learn remotely from home.

PreK - 1st Grade will have packets sent home
2nd-5th grade will have a virtual learning day, and the classroom teacher will communicate the information.

Families will be notified by email when RLSD determines that schools will be closed due to inclement weather. School closures are also posted on the School District website and on the RLSD Facebook page.

On days with questionable weather conditions when school remains in session, we understand that parents may choose to keep their children home if they do not feel safe traveling to school.
