Students in Wilderness Science are building real-world survival skills! Using found materials and charcoal from past fires, they created homemade water filters and successfully removed red food coloring from tap water. This hands-on experiment helped students practice essential survival techniques—and they did a great job!

Students in Mrs. Goneau’s 2nd grade class explored STEM concepts through a mini Olympic curling event. Using pennies as curling stones and tin foil to design and test their own “ice” surfaces, students experimented, made adjustments, and discovered how different materials and movement affect how far—and how straight—a penny slides. Learning through creativity and hands-on problem solving at its best!

The Random Lake Soccer Club is looking for 13–16 year olds who are interested in becoming youth soccer referees for the upcoming spring season. This is a great opportunity for players to learn the game from a new perspective, build confidence and leadership skills, and earn money while staying involved with soccer.

What’s involved:
-Completion of an online referee course (approximately 5 hours)
-An in-person field test to demonstrate basic referee skills
-Availability to referee games during the spring season

What RLSC provides:
-Reimbursement of $75 for the referee course
-Reimbursement for a referee kit, including jersey, whistle, assistant referee flags, and other required items
-Reimbursements will be issued once the referee is scheduled for spring games

Pay:
-Referees are paid a minimum of $20 per game
-There is an opportunity to earn more for higher-level games

Already playing soccer? No problem.
Players may both play soccer and referee for RLSC. If your child has a game scheduled as a player, that will be taken into account when referee schedules are built.
If your child is interested or you’d like more information, please send ashley.e.baier@gmail.com an email and let us know. We’re happy to answer questions and share next steps.

Thank you for helping support our local soccer community—we couldn’t do it without our players, families, and volunteers.

Best regards,

Before winter break, our students came together for a food drive—and the results were amazing! We donated 524 pounds of food to the Random Lake Area Interfaith Food Pantry.

Our 5th grade student leaders had the opportunity to visit the food pantry and personally deliver the donated items, helping make a difference right here in our community.

As part of a friendly competition, classrooms competed to collect the most items. A big congratulations to Mrs. Amy Theis’ 1st grade class, who won with nearly 100 items donated! Their class will celebrate with a well-earned popcorn party.

Thank you to all students, families, and staff who helped support our neighbors in need. We’re proud of our Random Lake learners for showing such generosity and leadership!
