Two girls reading a book

High school teacher Mrs. Peterson helps us develop strong classrooms through unique volunteer opportunities. Andria Peterson, English 9 and Video Productions teacher, teaches a community service class that brings the whole school together. High schoolers of all grades  opt to take this elective, as it can help with work ethic, creating new connections, and give crucial life experience. High schoolers are assigned to help a classroom once the elective has started. These classrooms can range from the weight room to the elementary school. Students help out with the classroom in whatever way the teacher asks, driving them to work hard, develop communication skills, and help in an area of need. Towards the end of the semester, community service students are asked to create a resume. Creating a resume is a necessity in the real world. Students are able to add community service to their resume. Community service is just one of the many electives Random Lake High School offers.
